The State of Kentucky continues to stay on the forefront of UST in situ remediation with the successful implementation of BOS 200® at many of the State’s petroleum contaminated sites.  To date, sixty five (65) sites have received BOS 200® injections: Thirty two (32) sites have been granted No Further Action (NFA), twenty eight (28) sites are in closure monitoring associated with 2014 and 2015 applications, and five (5) sites fall into a number of categories that require additional action (i.e. pilot tests, poor initial characterization).  Excluding the sites that are in closure monitoring, BOS 200® has been successful on 86% of all sites in Kentucky on which it has been employed.

The success in Kentucky is a result of adhering to the “RPI Approach” to in-situ remediation and the complete treatment system of the BOS 200® product.  The backbone of the RPI Approach is a strict Quality Control program that starts with evaluation of historical site data and extends through post injection sampling and analysis.

RPI Group continues to further the science and understanding of Trap & Treat® technology applications. To assist in the evaluation of BOS 200® distribution in the subsurface, be able to quantify total mass removal (soil and groundwater), and also document contaminant destruction rates, the State of Kentucky and the RPI Group are planning a definitive evaluation of the technology and approach at test sites.  Exhaustive soil and groundwater sampling will be performed pre and post injection to create sample sets supportive of statistical comparison.
